With years of experience, Winsome is here to support your personal growth and well-being.
Welcome! I’m Winsome Olivia Haynes, a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Therapist. My mission is to support individuals on their journey to better mental health and overall wellbeing.
A Passion for Helping Others
My career in healthcare began over three decades ago, starting with nursing, midwifery, and health visiting. These early experiences ignited my passion for supporting others through their most challenging moments. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with countless individuals, helping them navigate everything from everyday stress to more complex mental health issues.
It was during this time that I discovered my true calling: mental health. In particular, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) caught my attention. I became fascinated with how powerful the right therapeutic techniques could be in supporting someone’s healing process.
My Qualifications: Building a Strong Foundation of Knowledge
To provide the best possible care, I’ve worked hard to build a strong foundation in CBT and psychological therapies. Here are some of the key steps in my education and professional development:
2021: I completed my Foundation in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at the Greater Manchester Mental Health Psychological Training Centre.
2016: I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at the Master’s level, specializing in areas like Anxiety, Addictions, and Complex Cases.
2010: I received my Postgraduate Certificate in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies, accredited by the British Psychological Society. This qualification as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner enabled me to begin working with clients using evidence-based interventions.
2009: I graduated with a BSc (Hons) Open Degree, where I focused on exploring psychology, social psychology, and cognitive psychology, all of which shaped my approach to therapy.
1997: I earned a BSc (Hons) in Community Health Studies, graduating with First Class honours, which laid the groundwork for my career in healthcare.
In addition to my degrees, I have achieved further credentials that allow me to serve clients with the highest level of expertise:
1992: Health Visitor Diploma
1987: Registered Midwife
1984: Registered Nurse (Adult)
Experience: A Career Dedicated to Mental Health
For several years, I’ve worked in NHS Talking Therapies, where I’ve honed my skills and gained valuable experience treating a wide range of mental health conditions. My journey as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist has given me a deep understanding of the struggles people face and how to effectively guide them toward healing.
As a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, I’ve focused on delivering low-intensity CBT interventions to help people manage common conditions such as depression, anxiety, and stress. I’m proud to say that many of my clients have seen significant improvements in their mental health through these evidence-based approaches.
As a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, I’ve worked with individuals facing more complex and persistent mental health issues, including severe depression, trauma, PTSD, and anxiety disorders. By applying high-intensity CBT techniques, I help clients navigate their challenges with confidence and resilience.
My Approach: Empathy, Compassion, and Growth
What truly sets my practice apart is my holistic approach. I don’t just focus on symptoms—I focus on you as a person. My journey into mental health began with a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Concepts, which introduced me to the Humanistic philosophy. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of understanding individual potential, fostering self-awareness, and encouraging personal growth.
Throughout our work together, I strive to create a therapeutic environment that’s not only effective but also compassionate, open, and non-judgmental. I believe this type of environment is essential for genuine healing and self-discovery.
